Former National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Vusi Pikoli's lawyer will withdraw on Monday an application challenging his dismissal in the High Court in Pretoria. "I will be withdrawing the application today [Monday]," his lawyer, Aslam Moosajee, said. He was not certain if his client would attend the hearing. The government announced on Saturday that it had reached an out-of-court settlement with Pikoli which will see him walk away with R7,5-million. In return, Pikoli agreed to drop the court challenge. Pikoli took the government to court after then president Kgalema Motlanthe decided to sack him despite a commission of inquiry partly clearing his name. Pikoli maintained that he lost his job as NDPP because he decided to prosecute ex-top cop Jackie Selebi on corruption and fraud charges. Business Day newspaper reported on Monday that President Jacob Zuma was scheduled to meet top African National Congress officials on Monday to discuss the appointment of a new NDPP. - Sapa TOPICS IN THIS ARTICLE

If JZ government was serious about rooting out corruption, Pikoli would have been reinstated (or not fired in the first place). Wonder why not....
Johan Steynvaart on November 23, 2009, 9:30 am
Vusi Pikoli, you are one of the best, but Zuma, Selebi, Molema, Motala and Tlhope are those described by P.J.O'Rourke as the "Authority which has always attracted the lowest elements of the human race. All through history mankind has been bullied by scum." Well said O'Rourke, and sadly most of the scum are now in South Africa, and all are members of the derelict organisation the ANC....which to my shame, I once supported, and indeed sheltered in Botswana their members!

Once again some of us have to bear with the bitter minority South Africans mourning about the ANC. Get your better, holier-than-thou parties to campaign and effectively convince the majority of South African to vote for them (which they have dismally failed so far) instead of mourning day in and out.
Mbali Ngwane on November 23, 2009, 10:40 am
good riddance
Tendani Mphaphuli on November 23, 2009, 10:52 am
UmAfrica, if they were black, would he have been able to stay? Irrelevant of race, he did a good job, and pissed the wrong people off.
Mbali, so corruption is okay as long as the majority accepts it as morally correct? Should I as an individual bow to the corrupt powers just because they are part of (dont get me wrong I'm not saying exclusively) the majority? I dont have a problem with the ANC ruling the country, with the exception that they can actually govern efficiently and corrupt free (or to a minimum at least).
Johan Steynvaart on November 23, 2009, 10:57 am
I will tell you what our African so called brothers, the one who can get 37% to pass matric which is a 100% failure anyhere else in the world.
The white popultion goes on strike for one day and it will close down South Africa, you will not be able to fly or land in SA the president will not be able to fly the whole system will close down then you can call us racist you talk about transformation so what do you do put un-educated idiots in charge of government and all companies associated with government and what have you got another African country totaly useless begging the West to feed you and cure all the diseases you have created and still you call us racist, let hope the Western Cape can remain in our hands and we will show you how to run a country efficiently without robbing the poor.

Guess, Pikoli got something on the cronies in govt...remember Pikoli has gone on record suggesting he would have charged zuma..by the way what happened to those tapes...and how did certain files go missing...thsi zuma really is a wily old fox with a trill that comes out at night and preys on HIV positive young ladies.....and the band played on.......

Andrew Hoyle, its a Blue Monday I understand.
Lucky Dladla on November 23, 2009, 11:43 am
Africa, firstly, do you honestly think that one person made this decision by himself without consenting with the collective ANC leadership (I though that’s taboo as this is a DEMOCRATIC movement!!)? Secondly, it was actually Mothlante, which in turn was appointed by the incoming administration (ANC from which the newly elected party president was in fact JZ). It’s naïve to suggest that Mothlante did not run his administration according to what he was told by ANC leadership (which, again, JZ was president of). Exposed??? LOL
Johan Steynvaart on November 23, 2009, 11:58 am
@Andrew Hoyle you are in cloud coocoon. thats what you whities said before 1994 and you still singing that tune, get real! There are many Africans who can do your job better than you
UmAfrica African on November 23, 2009, 12:00 pm
Pikoli had re-charged Zuma....there's no way he was going to be returned to his position. this whole thing of manipulating the findings of the Ginwala commission was just to bring some legitimacy to it....but reality is they got rid of him to protect the big boss.
Cigar & Cognac comrade on November 23, 2009, 12:17 pm
Johan Steynvaart: you are lost, we are talking about diffence administarion here , let me simplyfy things for , who was minister of finance during Mbeki and mothlante 's admin? and who is the minister of finance now in Zuma's admin? the decision was taken by the relevant prez, with consultation within his advisors in the govt not ANC, NEC? i you dont get this then lets leave it though.
Africa 4 Africans on November 23, 2009, 12:27 pm
@Andrew Hoyle: i got a nice idea instead of you red necks(whites)go on strike, which you dont how?, why cant you leave the country and see if we cant survive without you!! pls, pls, pls consider this.
Africa 4 Africans on November 23, 2009, 12:30 pm
Africa, really, I am not going to be so naïve as to believe that Mothlate did not consult with ANC leadership, however, be free to believe so if you want to. Secondly, what do think would have happened to those apposed to Mothlante being appointed then? As I remember it (and still is), you were either for JZ, or you were out! Honestly think government decision makers had a choice of their own? You can try and spin it the way you like, the decision was made in favour of JZ. One last thing, how can a party recall our national president, but is not allowed to make a decision on the acquittal of the NDPP. Quite strange isn’t it?
Johan Steynvaart on November 23, 2009, 1:19 pm
Clearly the young ANC’s cadres are fixated with Julius Malema’s way of sorting out the differences between race groups. The facts presented by history are ignored, if looked at ever. This country is imploding because of a lack of political will to make the Freedom Charter and the Bill of Rights work. What this country will become is in the hands of those who, like Yengeni, desire a fancy Italian sports car outside their front doors. The fallout of this new wave of thinking will be the children that have been born in the last six years. The despots are already attacking people, physically and mentally, without restraint in our country. How are they going to explain to grandchildren that the food scarcity is the fault of people driven out of the country because they had believed that immigrants to the country were all bad? The miracle of 1994 now appears to have been a sleigh of hand trick by those who made promises to the people of South Africa. The promises made then had never been made to just certain specific groupings of people but to all who had a South African ID. Will South Africa become another Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria etc etc etc or not? Clearly it is in the hands of those who xenophobic hearts!

A4A DOOS. You wouldn't last one fcuken month. You dooses are too busy sucking JZ's shower head that you have not noticed all the corrupt AA (Afirmative Action, IE, Dooses that don't desrve thier jobs) Or do you need to be reminded, SAA, Transnet,Eskom, Armscor, Correctional service, do I need to carry on. All these semi trained monkies have learnt is that it is far easier stealing it than trying to earn it. Before you can wipe the shit from your eyes you will be trying to find a small piece of gound somewhere to plant you fcuken Mielie, you will be cooking over an open fire again, shitting in the streets, hey pretty much back to normal dude.
UmAfrica African , oh fcuk another doos who thinks that being semi trained means that he does not still belong to the primate section. Listen dude, you have to be able to peel the banana before you eat it. A4A, The reason we whites don't stirke every fcuken day is because we have what is called a work ethic, where the fcuk do you think all the utilities in SA come from, or how they got there. You know, the utilities, that's electricty, water, etc, all the things you dooses are doing your best to screw up. Actually I am impressed, inspite of all your efforts these same utilities and still semi working. I would have thought it would have taken you dooses 1 maybe 2 years to beark it. Sue, I am sorry to hear you are leaving your country, but I understand completey. I have done the same already and all is good. At least now I know when I climb into my car there is not some ass with a 9 mil up my ass looking for my cell phone. A4A, IT WAS PROBABLY YOUR DOOS OF A BROTHER WHO WAS LOOKING TO CALL HOME.Why wait around and watch a bunch of over paid asses with huge chips on thier shoulders suck the life out of SA. Screw them, they can call Bob and enjoy a few mielies on the fire together in a few years time.
Apocalypse Now on November 23, 2009, 2:01 pm
Well said apocalypse, as for the African who said all whites must go then you will be in real shit because its this minority group that pays all the taxes for the governments new car parade and the golden hand shakes as well as your free this and free that, hasnt your mother informed you that nothing is free.
Andrew Hoyle on November 23, 2009, 2:13 pm
@Apocalypse Now: the real reason you pink people dont strike is bcoz strike it was meant to let know how do other ppl, feel, remember while you were busy stealing and killing our black brothers and sister during your political criminal regime? i was thought how to strike coz that was the only way a pink person whould understand the feelings of other ppl.
if it wasn't for the semi monkies you wouldn't be able to write the crap you just post now coz your uncle P.W Botha who have charged you with some crime you dont even know, you should thank the monkies you can associate without fear coz i should have petrol bomb white ass long time ago, we would'nt last for a month a dare to leave now , mobilise al the mouth stinking red necks and leave now, we can do bad by ourselves, Andrew Hoyle:nope she thought ho wto never let a white mnan opress me again by voting for the right Prty, you can bitch all you can, you wil never rule me again over my dead body and my alive hair.so get over yourself already
Africa 4 Africans on November 23, 2009, 2:44 pm
A4A, Suck my petrol bomb you doos. Have you just come back from a Gov sponsored spelling program???? Fcuk me I could hardly understand what the fcuk you were say. OK, Sorry, I take back the word Semi... I will never use it again.
What the fcuk is this "we would'nt last for a month a dare to leave now , mobilise al the mouth stinking red necks and leave now, we can do bad by ourselves", Damn dude, you have got far bigger problems than to worry about a couple of red necks. Listen, try this again so that we can make sense of what on earth you are trying to say. With your writing skills you must be in management at fcuken Eskom or something.
Apocalypse Now on November 23, 2009, 2:53 pm

UmAfrica Afric; Finally, a rocket scientist.
1; Already living safely abroad. Thanks for asking. 2; Even if I was a screaming queen and you were the last ass on the planet, I would still kill myself. 3; Your comment about blacks are here to stay. Listen dude, you are extremely fortunate that there are 40 mil of you here, because even at this rate it will take 20 years for effective population management to take place. 4; And trust me, in 20 years time you will wish you were not in SA as well. There will be limited electricity, you had better not put those massive lips of yours on the end of any water taps, unless you are looking to kill yourself and the education department would be at the level of getting you to learn how to flip an egg in the pan. (Over a fire mind you).

@Apocalypse Now
@Andrew Hoyle You're not just an embarrassment to other white people; you're an embarrassment to humanity – and I find it enormously frustrating that a discussion of the national crisis of justice and accountability has being hijacked by racial politics. I am white and I am not part of this “we” you keep talking about. BACK TO THE TOPIC: Pikoli’s decision is incredibly disappointing. Every man has his price, it seems.
Murray Hunter on November 23, 2009, 6:46 pm
Tendani Mphaphuli on November 23, 2009, 10:52 am. I couldn't agree with you more. Vusi Pikoli was part of a conspiracy against JZ. I've long accepted that fact, his NPA was being manipulated under his nose by Ngcuka and his kind. His departure is a closure to a sad chapter in our politics that saw abuse of state instution for political ends, with the white dominated media being accomplices to that abuse. ANC won the day, like it did 15 years ago, when it freed us from white subjugation. It does not come as a surprise that the white majority despises the ANC, its not new, it was like that pre-1994, and it is not likely to change. ANC must forge ahead with its programs to make South Africa better, and thanks for the World Cup!
Njabulo Mnyandu on November 23, 2009, 8:13 pm
Njabula you should not generalise on what the whites think. I for one supported the ANC before and after the 1994 elections. But not anymore. I have seen how they have taken for themselves what should have been for our poor people. This is what has made me angry with the ANC and not as you Africa 4 Africa states, that whites supported PW Botha. Please guys open your eyes it is not admirable to trust blindly, it is not the whites that are robbing you, but your ANC government

Well said Murray Hunter. Insulting someone never did any good and reveals who you are.
Also about Pikoli - Has he now been bribed to drop the pursuit of the truth? Well then he is as corrupt as the rest... a sad indictment on SA leadership. Of course 7.5m would be tempting, but let Pikoli now no longer speak asif he himself had lily-white hands.
Alistair McMillan on November 24, 2009, 10:21 am

Nahor Ecnarraf on November 24, 2009, 11:28 am
very very irritating, when I joined this forum, I was fascinated by inventive and constructive comments or analysis but now it has became a battle field, where people exprese their anger towards the people of certain race or colour.
You can be yellow, blue, green, we are not interested, all we want is your creative comments, if you have any or just shut up.
King Z on November 24, 2009, 2:08 pm
Unfortunatel King Z, what ever one says and be it a sad truth about the ANC, there are those who will blindly follow and use the race card as their defence. Which in turn will put those who are wanting constructive dialogue's backs up and then they feel they have to defend themselves. This then spirals down into an ugly fight.
Lee van Zyl on November 24, 2009, 3:42 pm
Apocalypso Now (or tomorrow), if you no longer reside in SA then shut up, by leaving you have given up your right to have a say about what happens here. You have chosen a new life, so get involved in their poolitics, not ours!

Sundays TV viewing was the usual eyeful. " Judge for Yourself", the great 'I am ego' and arch arsecreeper Davies, " The Justice Factor", which is always good value and informative and the killer, Carte Blanche. Here they expose the moral bankruptcy of the policeforce [rape, rape and rape] and by extension the blatent racism of the ANC government. What a joke that they are setting up a system to fast track those foreigners caught in wrongdoing whilst attending the World Cup! Already judging others by their own standards, are they? They can't even protect our population and/or police themselves. Haven't got a clue.
I for one, have had enough - they can nationalize, africanise and communize to their hearts content but I wont be one of their victims - I'm off.
