Zille takes aim at Shiceka

DA leader Helen Zille on Sunday criticised the minister of cooperative governance and traditional affairs, Sicelo Shiceka, of neglecting municipalities that are in dire straits.

Addressing residents of Shayamoya in the Kokstad municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, Zille said Shiceka was instead targeting effective municipalities, adding that he should focus on Kokstad and not Cape Town where her party governs.

"This is despite that the city is being rated number one in the country for service delivery.

"[His] obsession with Cape Town has nothing to with conditions on the ground, but everything to do with trying to smear his political opponents. This is why his priorities are wrong," she said.

Shayamoya has been faced with water supply and sanitation problems.

Zille said the reason why service delivery was lagging behind in the area was because 90% of officials were appointed not for their skills but for their connections with the ANC.

"This explains why you are in this situation. Unless the right people are appointed in the right positions, service delivery will not happen," she said. - Sapa

And this misguided and misguiding individual is doing the exact same thing that she's accusing Shiceka of ...

Zille, those wise words are slowly penetrating the ANC's previous electorate; a electorate abused by the lies, greed and incompetence of the crumbling ANC.

Because of the DA, ANC is forced to pull finger. Good.

I can somebody please tell this woman to just shut up. Minister Shiceko is one of the hardest working ministers in the cabinet. Instead of giving lessons to the DA mayor of Cape Town, this woman interfers in national govt.! If I may remind this woman, the mayor of Cape Town had to flee tail between the legs out of Blikkiesdorp because of a lack of service delivery! Moloko sorry to burst you and Sinu's bubble, your heroic lady and her racist will forever languish on the opposition benches! EISH!!

Watch the ANC and their supporters, some how blame Helen Zille and the DA or the apartheid era, for the problems in Kokstad. They will blame any one else but themselves for the bad service delivery. I wait with bated breath to see what African 4 Africa, Proudly SA have to say. Go on guys give me a chuckle for Monday, with your ridiculous rehetoric.

And again the ANC's flag bearers show their idiocy and lack of understanding. Another poor effort nkosi sikelele! Nkosi, you and your ANC has nothing on the opposition except the word 'racism', which works as well as a mshini with no bullets.

However, i can say your government performs piss poor across the board and I can provide you with proof. If I was you I would stop blaming others and start holding my political responsible for their election promises. Or do you beleive the blatant lies by the ANC?

but it is apartheids fault. Caant any of you see that their lack of foresight has left us in the lurch. How could they ever hhave expected to keep 44 000 000 south africans surpressed? and they only created infrastructure for 7 000 000! How friggin naive! Now we are all left with the crap of having to start from scratch in fixing it all.

Moloko, why don't you call yourself Piet Boer? You demonstrate extreme cowardice by using an african name! This govt. has saved your arrogant white arse from total isolation and standing trial for crimes against humanity!
nkosi sikelele on November 30, 2009, 4:15 pm
Basic again, Nkosi. You state no facts only more insults. Malema type arguments. OBE only works in ANC meetings.

Still i ask, do you honestly beleive the ANC will live up to their election promise?
moloko moloko on November 30, 2009, 4:34 pm
Moloko, can the DA live up to an election promise? Instead of complaining all the time, why dont you go and do soemthing constructive! The old NP were just the same as the ANC with corruption. The only diff now is that we are not slaves of the the state (and I say this being a white man). The old nationalist gov ruined it for all, we are al in the same boat, we all need to get behind the gov and work to a common goal

godhead godhead

The DA is delivering on their election promises. Don’t think so? why don’t you compare the western cape with any other province...compare cape town with any other city. I’m sorry, but denying that the DA is doing a superb job is very unwise. Furthermore, the DA have to complain to protect you and me from this degrading trend of public service and self enrichment of the ANC elite.

It is very funny that the only way anyone can insult the DA is by claiming that they complain to much. However, you don’t hear about ANY person in the DA who is corrupt, incompetent, with criminal records, who is supposed to be in jail, or who is wasting taxpayers money.

You are wrong though. How can we get behind a government that aims to rule from the top down. The ANC's election promises ARE all lies, their actions less than credible/transparent and their intolerance towards race, culture, diversity is a disgrace and far from a multi racial organisation.

I'm sorry, but you and the ANC can blame the apartheid years for another 500 years while poor leadership drowns our country in creeping mediocrity. Its time the ANC's electorate hold the ANC accountable for their promises!
